SEARCH PATTERN FOR MRI

• First look at localizer to determine adequacy

  • No motion, wrap around

  • Can include some parts of body not included on other images

• Go to T2FS images to look for fluid bright lesions

• Go to T1FSC+ and look for internall mamary and axillary nodes, no distorsion, skin, nipples, thoracic cavity

• Go to subtraction images

  • Peak sequence is the most important (2nd time point)

  • First look at breast tissue for mass and non-mass enhancement

  • If you see nothing, go through color CAD images

  • If you see something on subtraction, measure it in 3 planes, note distance from nipple in 2 planes, note quadrant/clock it is in, go to color images and look at kinetic images.

If finding requires a second look US, assign BIRADS  according to if the second look US found nothing.

• 85% of breast CA is sporatic 

• If 1st degree relative had breast CA post menopausal, the risk is slightly less
