• Fibroepithelial lesions (FELs) 

  • Heterogeneous group of biphasic neoplasms characterized by proliferation of epithelial and stromal components

  • Encompass both benign entities and borderline to malignant phyllodes tumors

  • Occur in 10-15% of women

  • Most are slow growing; rapid growth more typically occur in certain benign lesions sensitive to hormonal changes (juvenile & lactational FAs) and PTs.

  • Definitive dx may be challenging for pathologies.

FA & FA VARIANTS

FIBROADENOMATOID CHANGE (FC)

• FC is a benign entity usually detected at imaging bc of its association w suspicious calcs. 

• Mean age: 32 - 50 yo

• Histo: microscopic nodule resembling an FA (often without circumscription and proliferative stroma typically associated with an FA), with coarse calcifications

SIMPLE FA

• MC benign breast neoplasm in young women

• Peak incidence in 2nd and 3rd decades of life

• Respond to hormonal changes and frequently undergo atrophic changes to menopause

• Typically have well-defined borders histologically w/o
